With August approaching and the back-to-school season around the corner, parents and families may be wondering about the upcoming school year and where to buy school supplies.
To ease the transition for students, The Sacramento Bee is hosting a back-to-school supply drive, partnering with Volunteers of America’s Operation Backpack initiative, and a Q&A with education reporter Chaewon Chung and higher education reporter Tarini Mehta on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 6 to 7 p.m. at our newsroom 1601 Alhambra Blvd., Suite 100.

While admission is free, The Bee requests attendees to bring school supplies to donate toward VOA, who will distribute backpacks filled with grade-specific school supplies to low-income, at risk, foster and homeless children in Northern California.
