California taxing jurisdictions seeking to fund bond measures with a voter-approved property tax must state the proposed rate the same way in ballot language as in any supplemental materials, a state appeals court ruled.
Under California law, bond measures must state the proposed property tax rate per $100,000 of assessed value so voters can more easily understand the effect. That requirement applies to both ballot information materials and the ballot itself, the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District said Friday.
