BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The weekend that was featured afternoon highs right at average for Bakersfield, however, the heat was on across the desert. Saturday saw highs from 100 to 111. Sunday was a tad cooler with some mid to high level clouds streaming in from the south.
Looking ahead to a brand new week the warmth prevails for the South Valley for the next couple days, with higher temperatures in the desert, where an Extreme Heat Warning continues until 9 p.m. on Monday night.
A reconfiguration of the high pressure system will likely lead to a more significant buildup of heat later on this week, with a serious sizzle areawide likely heading into the upcoming weekend.
The placement of this high, much like its predecessors so far this season, doesn’t appear to allow for much, if any, monsoonal energy into our area. As such, this should continue to be a dry and mainly sunny heat event.
