Bakersfield, Calif. (KBAK/FOX58) — CHP officers are looking for the driver and vehicle responsible for hitting and killing a pedestrian on Di Giorgio Road late Sunday night.
The California Highway Patrol said on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at around 11:58 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Di Giorgio Road and May Street for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
CHP said for reasons still under investigation, a pedestrian, identified as a male, was walking westbound on the right shoulder of the roadway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling on the shoulder.
The pedestrian died.
CHP said there is currently no description of the suspect vehicle.
According to CHP, at this time, it is unknown whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash.
