The nonprofit will hold a “full club experience” at Academy L.A. in Hollywood
After a 15-year track record of advocating for patients and survivors, nonprofit organization Fuck Cancer will reach the 100-event milestone. In the Hollywood celebration, planned to support its early detection and prevention programs and featuring superstar DJs, the organization will not stray far from its roots — which all started with t-shirts.
Both of its founders created organizations named similarly independent of each other. In 2015, they merged and kept organizing events, with the starting point of their fundraising being a shirt that sported the organization’s name and motto.
“It’s what everyone is thinking during that head-in-your-hands moment,” says Fuck Cancer’s website about the expletive in its name. “It’s not sexual or violent. It’s defeated and defiant. ‘Fuck’ is a visceral response to a life-altering disease.”
Now, years later and a community built along the way, Fuck Cancer will organize its 100th event Sept. 23. Right on Hollywood Boulevard, a star-studded lineup of Diplo, Dillon Francis and DJ Pauly D will take over Academy L.A. for a night that keeps those origins close to its core. Entry to the event comes in the form of a t-shirt that represents a direct donation and that attendees are encouraged to wear, “turning the entire room into a sea of solidarity and purpose,” says the organization’s website.
The event also marks the culmination of a Road to 100 campaign designed to reflect on the organization’s goals so far, as well as where it hopes to create impact in the future. So far, Fuck Cancer has hosted 55,000 event goers, raising over $2 million for prevention and early detection initiatives. Its programs have delivered over 60,000 screenings — 10,000 for breast cancer specifically — 35,000 HPV vaccines, and wide-ranging education programs.

“This milestone isn’t just about honoring how far we’ve come. It’s about accelerating where we’re going,” said Fuck Cancer co-founder Julie Greenbaum via statement. “Every event we host helps fund prevention programs, expand access to lifesaving screenings and education, and build a community that reminds people they never have to face cancer alone.”
Tickets are available on the organization’s website, at letsfcancer.com/100. The Shirt Admission tickets come in five sizes, all at the same price. The shirts can be delivered to attendees or picked up at will call, and attendees must wear the shirt to gain entry at the door.
