A reported water main break on Harbor Blvd and later water pressure issues caused problems at Disneyland Resort on Tuesday, July 28. Restrooms and restaurants were forced to close resort-wide.
Anaheim Water Issues Affect Disneyland Resort
Parking Cast Members told us about the nearby water main break as we tried to park at Disneyland Resort in the morning. The opening of Downtown Disney District at 7 a.m. was delayed and guests weren’t allowed to park until 7:16 a.m. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure opened on time at 8 a.m. A Cast Member we spoke to at the time said they had been instructed to not use water but the issue had since been resolved.
That evening, however, low water pressure in Anaheim led to difficulties drawing water from ground wells, according to CBS News. This affected Disneyland Resort as well as Angel Stadium, restaurants, hotels, businesses, and many Anaheim neighborhoods beginning around 6 p.m.
The city started to draw water from the Colorado River instead. Officials told CBS that the pump issues did not affect fire hydrants or fire response and there were no concerns about water quality.
KTLA spoke to Tiffany Christensen, who shared video of guests waiting outside a closed restroom at Disneyland. She was stopped from entering several restrooms at the park by employees who said they were not operating due to a city-wide water issue.
“They were as helpful as the situation could allow,” Christensen said about the Cast Members. “Most guests understood it was out of Disney’s hands, while others were upset with the inconvenience. It was a little chaotic, but they handled it the best they could.”
In a Reddit thread about the issue, several visitors said restaurants were closed. Guests with reservations were turned away.
Restrooms and restaurants began to reopen one by one. Disneyland said issues at the resort were resolved by 8 p.m.
