BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County District Attorney’s Office is set to hold a fingerprint lab session for children on Wednesday, according to the Beale Memorial Library.
The library is partnering with the DA’s office for the sessions on July 29 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 701 Truxtun Avenue, according to library officials.

The event is geared toward kids between the ages of 6 and 11, but can be modified for those under 6. They will learn the science behind criminal investigations and meet real DA investigators, prosecutors and the Family Justice Center team, the library said on Facebook.
DA’s office staff will be on site for the full event, but the single lab session will be held during the noon hour.
Criminalists with the DA’s Kern Regional Crime Lab are expected to demonstrate how fingerprints are collected and analyzed during criminal investigations.
Kids will get to analyze their fingerprints and find out how forensic science helps uncover facts, according to the DA’s office.
Attendees can look forward to additional activities — including a slime station — and goodies to take home, officials said.
