Free backpacks, health screenings, and bike rodeos: Where Los Angeles families can score free school supplies across LA County this July and August

Back-to-school season is here, and families across Los Angeles can score free backpacks, school supplies, health resources, and fun activities before the first day of class. From community resource fairs and backpack giveaways to creative workshops and family festivals, these events are helping students of all ages start the school year prepared.

Here are some of the best free back-to-school events happening around L.A. over the next two weeks:

Back to School Resource Fair

Join the event for fun activities and free stuff to get your students ready for school. Bring a bike for our bike rodeo, make some art, and learn all about the resources the Lennox community has for students. For all school age kids, preschool – 12th grade.

Enjoy a day of free resources, health services, and back-to-school support for K-12 students and their families.

7th Annual Kobe Day Back to School Backpack Giveaway

Get ready to kick off the new school year in style at Barack Obama Charter School on Saturday, August 8, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.! Join them for a fun-filled day of backpacks & school supplies, manicures, horseback riding, basketball drills, and face painting.

Pasadena City Hall is hosting the Revive Restore Renew Back to School backpack give away where you can come together to celebrate fresh starts for school and family fun. Connect with resources, giveaways, enjoy cool activities, and get pumped for the school year ahead.

7th annual IBTU Back 2 School

Head to the Venice Beach Boardwalk for free backpacks, school supplies, diapers, food, music, and community resources for families at Venice Beach! Last year they served 2,997 families at Venice Beach. This year they’re going bigger with free diapers, health & dental screenings, youth performers, skate activation & games, and raffles & giveaways.
