A city-wide water pressure issue in Anaheim, Calif., caused Disneyland to close many bathrooms and disrupted park operations
Guests spotted long lines at functioning restrooms while some Downtown Disney restaurants also reportedly had to temporarily close
On Wednesday morning, a city spokesperson told PEOPLE the issues had been resolved overnight
An issue with the city’s water pressure forced Disneyland to close many of its bathrooms on Tuesday, creating chaos and confusion inside the park.
City of Anaheim, Calif., officials tell local outlets KTLA, ABC 7 and CBS LA that staff had first reported an issue drawing water from ground wells around 6 p.m. local time on July 28. It left many facilities in the central part of town with little to no water pressure.
Amid the issues, guests visiting Disneyland reported cast members were standing outside park bathrooms to inform them that many of the facilities would remain closed. Guest Tiffany Christensen told KTLA she was stopped from entering several restrooms before learning about the city-wide issue.
“They were as helpful as the situation could allow,” Christensen said of the employees. “Most guests understood it was out of Disney’s hands, while others were upset with the inconvenience. It was a little chaotic, but they handled it the best they could.”

One social media user claimed the issue extended to the park’s shopping district, Downtown Disney, with restaurants closing as well. Others shared videos of the long lines that extended from the bathrooms that were operating.
In a statement, Disneyland said the water pressure issues temporarily impacted operations throughout the resort, adding that “our teams worked quickly to take care of affected guests, and we appreciate their flexibility,” per ABC 7 and CBS LA. Water was reportedly restored around 8 p.m.
PEOPLE has reached out to a Disneyland spokesperson for comment.

On Wednesday morning, a spokesperson for the City of Anaheim told PEOPLE the issue was resolved “quickly” overnight with no ongoing issues.
The spokesperson told ABC 7 the issues involved a handful of groundwater wells and problems drawing water from them. About 75% of the city’s water comes from groundwater wells while the other 25% comes from the Colorado River. Out of Anaheim’s 14 wells, four of them were impacted on Tuesday.
For now, the four wells will remain offline and the city will instead rely on additional water from the Colorado River. An investigation into the issue remains ongoing, with city officials speculating it could have been technical or mechanical.

City officials say the issue did not affect fire hydrants or fire response. There are also no concerns about water quality being impacted.
