A local family plans to launch at least 10 private pickleball facilities in the Central Valley as franchisees of the Dill Dinkers pickleball clubs chain. Dill Dinkers image, logo

Dill Dinkers will open its first California indoor pickleball facility in Visalia this summer after plans for a Fresno location collapsed shortly before construction was scheduled to begin.

The Maryland-based franchise expects the Visalia club to open in July or early August.

The facility will occupy a former pickleball project site that had already undergone significant preparation before development stalled.

Fresno project falls through

Regional developer Bill Revilla said the Fresno project had advanced through financing, legal review and planning before the landlord declined to enter a lease agreement.

“It was disappointing at first,” Revilla said.

The setback ultimately led the company to Visalia, where an opportunity emerged to take over an existing pickleball development project.

Expansion plans remain ambitious

The Revillas hold a regional development agreement that includes at least 10 future clubs stretching from Madera to Visalia.

Company leaders say the Central Valley is an attractive market because of population growth and summer temperatures that make indoor facilities appealing.

“Fresno is definitely still close to our heart,” Revilla said.

The company says it remains interested in establishing a Fresno location in the future.

Building community around pickleball

Dill Dinkers emphasizes organized play, climate-controlled facilities and community programming.

Executives say the goal is to create a consistent experience for players while reducing long wait times commonly found at public courts.

“One of the biggest complaints about public courts is people sometimes have to wait 45 minutes to play,” said co-founder Denise Richards.

The company currently has hundreds of locations committed through development agreements nationwide.
