LONG BEACH, Calif. — Fifty years ago, Long Beach residents marked a moment in time as they celebrated the bicentennial of the U.S. with a time capsule.
Now, as the country celebrates 250 years, city leaders opened the time capsule, offering a glimpse into what life was like in Long Beach and what residents hoped the future would look like.
Among the items pulled were letters written by local students, many of whom have grown up to see the changes they predicted.
