NorCal forecast: Heat remains reasonable Thursday, builds this weekend

Another pleasant Thursday morning is underway in Sacramento, with clear skies and light winds. Not much change is expected today, although onshore winds may increase slightly as a weak weather system passes to the north. The afternoon will look and feel much like Wednesday with valley forecast highs in the mid and upper 90s.
The heat increases Friday, when widespread triple-digit temperatures are expected across the Valley. Friday will be the first of several KCRA 3 Weather IMPACT DAYS and likely the beginning of the first official heat wave of the summer.
IMPACT DAYS will continue through the weekend and the start of next week, with valley highs of 100 degrees or more. In the foothills, high temperatures will be near 100 degrees. Expect mild overnight temperatures and therefore limited overnight relief.
Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest hours and take breaks in air-conditioned or shaded places. Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.
Our warm weather system will weaken by the middle of next week. This will allow cooler air to arrive to the region but high temperatures will still remain warmer than normal.
