Residents may experience a flooding of low-lying beach parking lots, boardwalks and roads, as well as dangerous swimming and surfing conditions.
“A five foot swell associated with Hurricane Genevieve with a period around 14 seconds peaks today,” the weather service said in a statement.
According to the weather service, the strongest waves will crash Thursday and Friday and begin to subside by Saturday into Sunday.
