A wounded 13-year-old boy self transported himself to a hospital in Long Beach, where he was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound, authorities said Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the hospital about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, regarding a shooting victim, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

“Upon arrival, officers contacted a 13-year-old male victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body,” according to a police statement. “Officers were unable to locate a crime scene. The circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.”
