BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Expect delays on Highway 99 in both directions in Bakersfield on Tuesday morning after several crashes amid heavy rain. Meanwhile, CHP is reporting falling rocks near the Mouth of the Canyon on Highway 178. CHP is also reporting traffic being briefly stopped due to a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 58.

On northbound Highway 99:

At 8:43 a.m., the CHP’s website is reporting 4 feet of water on the number one, two, and three lanes of Highway 99 at Palm Street.

At 8:45 a.m., a solo-vehicle crash was reported on northbound Highway 99 at Whisler Road. The crash was listed as having no injuries.

At 8:28 a.m., a solo-vehicle crash was reported on northbound Hwy. 99 at Olive Drive. The website said an SUV overturned several times and was on the right-hand shoulder. No information was available for injuries.

At 7:16 a.m., a crash was reported northbound Highway 99 near Panama Lane. The CHP’s website said a car was on the right-hand shoulder following the non-injury crash.

On southbound Highway 99:

At 8:44 a.m., the CHP’s website said a vehicle was reported to have possibly spun out on the southbound Hwy. 99 at Lerdo Highway.

At 8:40 a.m., there was a report of a solo-vehicle crash on southbound Highway 99 at Highway 46.

Highway 178:

At 8:59 a.m., the California Highway Patrol is also advising there are several large rocks that fell just east of the Mouth of the Kern Canyon.

Highway 58:

At 9:01 a.m., CHP is also advising that traffic was briefly stopped in both directions on westbound Highway 58, west of Highway 223, after a solo-vehicle crash.
