July 31 (UPI) — The San Francisco 49ers and free agent wide receiver Deebo Samuel agreed to a one-year, $7 million contract, he confirmed on social media.
The veteran playmaker, who spent last season with the Washington Commanders, is set to return to the franchise he initially joined as a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Samuel, 30, totaled 72 catches for 727 yards and five scores over 16 appearances last season. He also totaled 75 yards and a score on 17 rushing attempts.
The 2021 All-Pro logged 5,935 yards from scrimmage and 42 scores off 536 touches through his first six seasons with the 49ers.
He will join a revamped 49ers wide receivers room that also includes Mike Evans, Rick Pearsal and Christian Kirk. Pearsal and Kirk are dealing with injuries.
The 49ers, who held their first training camp practice Sunday, will host the Tennessee Titans in their preseason opener Aug. 13 in Santa Clara, Calif.
