Northern California heat wave forecast: Series of hot days through the weekend
Northern California is set to see its first heat wave of the summer, along with a toasty final day of July.
The KCRA 3 weather team is issuing an Impact Day for Friday because of how the heat could affect outdoor activities. Those prone to heat-related illness or who work outdoors should also take extra steps to stay cool and hydrated.
Northern California forecast temperatures
Valley highs: 97-102
Foothills highs: 95-99
Temperatures will cool into the low 60s to low 70s for Saturday morning.

Plan ahead for the heat. Take precautions daily:Get outside early, before noonStay hydratedWear light-colored, loose-fitted clothingAvoid the peak heat of the day between 3-6 p.m.
Heat will impact the Sacramento Valley and surrounding Foothills through the weekend and until at least Aug. 4.
Northern California air quality
Skies may look hazy at times with some particle pollution due to a wildfire burning in Sonoma County.
Air quality could be in the range of moderate to unhealthy as the onshore flow increases this evening, funneling smoke into the Delta and Sacramento County.
