THEY SAY A RECLAMATION DISTRICT EMPLOYEE DISCOVERED IT EARLIER TODAY. AND SO THEY WANT YOU TO AVOID RIVER ROAD. COURTLAND, Calif. —

Reclamation District employees made a grim discovery on Thursday when they found skeletal remains along the Sacramento River, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the remains are believed to be human.

The sheriff’s office said the employees found the remains around 11 a.m. near where the Steamboat Slough meets the Sacramento River in Courtland.

Footage from LiveCopter 3 showed that River Road was closed in the area as deputies and detectives were investigating.
