Celebrate the start of ‘La La Land’s’ 10th anniversary month with a fun and romantic night out on the town
As the 10th anniversary of the award-winning musical La La Land approached, many fans and romcom lovers are finding themselves obsessing over the film like never before. Whether it be fully immersing themselves in the spirit of the award-winning production or simply sightseeing iconic locations, fans may be asking, “Where could we have the perfect La La Land date night?”
In the spirit of the reemergence of Damien Chazelle’s Oscar-winning movie, here are five different locations across the City of Angels that will give you the perfect mix of the glamorous romcom-musical’s scenery accompanied by your loved one.
Griffith Observatory

One of the film’s most iconic locations sits at the heart of the Hollywood Hills: The Griffith Observatory. Whether you are sightseeing during the day or stargazing like Seb and Mia in the later hours of the night, this sets up an intimate and heartfelt evening out with your loved one.
Like to dance? Stop by Cathy’s Corner along Mt. Hollywood Drive located in Griffith Park. This is where the iconic tap dance sequence, A Lovely Night, was filmed. Snap a few pictures or have a quick slow dance under the California stars.
The Observatory will be hosting a series of La La Land screenings that are currently sold out to the public. However, fans are still encouraged to attend the location during their normal operating hours.

The Lighthouse Cafe

Take a seat and get the Seb and Mia experience at The Lighthouse Cafe. Immerse yourself in Seb’s passion for “pure jazz” and see the place where he played the piano as Mia danced along in the crowd.
For those who love dancing, music and ambiance, this restaurant is the perfect place for a night out near the beach. Those in attendance must be 21+ to be able to enjoy their preselected lineup of musical entertainment. Though jazz music is the expectation, the cafe hosts salsa, country and reggae.
However, if you are in the mood for jazz music, you can attend their “Jazz Brunch” on Sundays for all ages up until 1 p.m.
Customers are encouraged to make a reservation and take a look at their website to see which musical events best fit their vibe.
Hermosa Beach Pier

After dinner, head over to Hermosa Beach and take a walk along the pier. Enjoy the City of Stars under a navy blue sky and the beauty of the beach’s simplicity.
Though the beach scenes weren’t extravagant, Seb encourages us to think of the authenticity behind allowing something to be simple. It brought the viewer back to the reality of life and reminded them that dates don’t always have to be elaborate.
Take a walk, enjoy the view and appreciate the company of one another.
The Blind Donkey aka Seb’s

Have you ever wanted to visit Seb’s jazz club? Now’s the time.
Better known as The Blind Donkey, located in the heart of long beach, fans are welcomed to head on over to the underground speakeasy and craft bar. At a nearby location, you can also find Mia’s pink Spanish-style apartment.
Though Seb’s comes during one of the more bittersweet parts of the movie, this location makes a great conversation spot for you and your loved one on a night out.
The Smokehouse Restaurant aka Lipton’s
4420 Lakeside Dr, Burbank, CA 91505

Located in the suburban community of Burbank, neighboring NBC and Universal Studios, The Smokehouse is home to one of the most crucial moments in the film.
Though unfulfilling, Seb is hired to play cheesy Christmas tunes as customers enjoy a meal at Lipton’s. Mia is drawn in by the tune of the La La Land theme song and walks into the restaurant to find Seb behind the piano. Most individuals who go to the restaurant typically have a more positive experience than Seb.
It quickly became an L.A. favorite for fans and Hollywood legends like Bob Hope. Their most ordered items on the menu consist of their mouthwatering plates of baby back ribs, steak and lobster.
