BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the man who died nearly a month after being shot on Forrest Street as 36-year-old Isaac Garcia of Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at around 5:45 p.m., there was a shooting on Forrest Street, near H Street. At the time, police said the victim was in critical condition due to the shooting.
Police said on July 1st, 2026, the alleged suspect, 43-year-old Christian Villasenor of Lancaster, was arrested by detectives from the Bakersfield Police Department in Las Vegas, Nevada, with assistance from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said the suspect and victim knew each other, and the victim was the target. Police said at the time, there were no indications that the offense was due to gang activity.
The coroner’s office announced the victim, Garcia, died from his injuries on July 28 at a Hoffman Hospice Facility.
