Left-hander Kash Mayfield had his start for high Single-A Fort Wayne skipped due to a right hamstring strain.

The injury was sustained during his last start. He has continued a throwing program and is expected to return to the TinCaps’ rotation next Friday.

A candidate to be traded if the Padres remain buyers, the 21-year-old Mayfield is 3-1 with a 3.54 ERA, 62 strikeouts and a 1.16 WHIP in 15 starts (53⅓ IP) so far with the TinCaps.

Mayfield, who represented the Padres in the All-Star Futures Game last month, has held hitters to a .214 batting average this season.

Albuquerque 14, Chihuahuas 8: C Ethan Salas (1.509 OPS) went 0-for-3 with two walks and a run scored in his third game in the Pacific Coast League. CF Dustin Harris (.967 OPS) went 4-for-5 with his third homer, a double and two RBIs. 1B Nick Solak (.915 OPS) drove in two runs on three hits, including his 13th homer. RHP Evan Fitterer (3-5, 4.21 ERA) allowed two runs and exited with an apparent injury after recording just one out in the first inning. RHP Logan Gillaspie (6.75 ERA) allowed three runs in 3 ⅔ innings.

 

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (44-56)

Amarillo 8, Missions 5: RHP Andrew Thurman (2-6, 5.71 ERA) allowed three runs in 5⅓ innings in the loss. RHP Garrett Hawkins (4.76 ERA) allowed three runs in 1⅔ innings. 1B Albert Fabian (.702 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. CF Kai Roberts (.587 OPS) went 0-for-3 but drove in two runs.

 

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (44-55)

TinCaps 5, Great Lakes 2: RHP Maikel Miralles (8.21 ERA) walked five and allowed two runs—one earned—without allowing a hit in the start. RHP Nick Falter (2-2, 5.51 ERA) struck out three over two scoreless innings for the win. RF Alex McCoy (.815 OPS) went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a walk and a run scored. CF Ryan Wideman (.650 OPS) went 1-for-5 and swiped two bases (17).

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (53-47)

Storm 15, Stockton 5: 1B Yimy Tovar (.632 OPS) drove in four runs on four hits, including his first two homers. RF George Bilecki (.752 OPS) drove in three runs on three hits, including a triple and two doubles. C Ty Harvey (.795 OPS) drove in three runs on two hits. LHP Kruz Schoolcraft (5.56 ERA) walked six but allowed a run on four hits in four innings. He struck out four.

 

ROOKIE DSL GOLD (31-12)

Padres 6, Guardians 5 (8): DH Dayquer Alfonzo (1.073 OPS) went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, two walks and a run scored. 1B Angel Mejia (.650 OPS) went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
