USAFA, Colo.—Ava Hewitt-Smith moved into the San José State top-10 season solo block list as the Spartan volleyball team fell at Air Force, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-21) Thursday night in a Mountain West match at Cadet East Gym.

Hewitt-Smith had five blocks in the match, one solo and four block assists.
Her solo block was her 29th of the season, moving her into a tie for 10th place on the SJSU single-season solo block list with Barbara Higgins (1986).
Hewitt-Smith needs one more solo block to tie Maria Healy (1986) and Jodi Breding (1982) for eighth place.
Hewitt-Smith is the first Spartan player since 1996 (Melissa Myers, 31) to join the top-10 list.
The Spartans outblocked the Falcons, 11-7, led by Learden Lee with six block assists.
Morgan Graves led the Spartan hitting attack with six, followed by Lee with five and Morgan Castaneda, Lolo Fonua, Naima Foster and Hewitt-Smith with four each.
Talita Gonçalves tallied 19 digs to lead the defense and was the only Spartan with double-digit digs.

UP NEXT – The Spartans travel to Nevada for a noon match on Saturday, the 8th, at the Virginia Street Gym.
