OAKLAND, Tenn. (WMC) – The Town of Oakland has sworn in a new police chief.
Larry Gaines, previously the assistant chief, replaces Chief Chris Earl, who retired at the end of July after 16 years in law enforcement.

Chief Gaines enters this new role after serving the Oakland Police Department for 25 years, starting as one of the town’s first reserve officers.
“We are excited to see him in this leadership role and for the future of the Oakland Police Department,” officials said in a statement.
