Neighborhood parties will be held throughout the Bay Area on Tuesday, Aug. 4, for National Night Out.
What started more than 40 years ago as a symbolic porch vigil has been adopted by law enforcement agencies as a family-friendly annual initiative to strengthen community ties. Events in the Bay Area range from neighborhood potlucks to city-sponsored parties including barbecues, bounce houses, dunk tanks and giveaways.
BAY AREA EVENTS
Almost all cities in the region participate in the event, usually coordinated by police departments or sheriff’s offices. Some cities have a designated public event; others encourage neighborhood celebrations. If your city isn’t on the list below, check your law enforcement agency’s social media account for information.
