A Davis man is behind bars following a vehicle and credit card theft investigation in Maryland, Garrett County, Maryland Sheriff Bryson Meyers announced in a July 30 press release. The arrest stemmed from an incident on July 29, according to the report.
On July 29, deputies with the Garrett County, Maryland Sheriff’s Office investigated an incident at the TDEC parking lot on Arch Street. The owner of a vehicle had reported their vehicle had been moved from its original location to another within the lot. The owner also reported loose change and several credit cards stolen.
During the investigation, it was determined that the stolen credit cards had been used at multiple businesses in Oakland, MD. As a result of the investigation, 21-year-old Alexander Harris Keller of Davis was identified as a suspect.
Keller was later located by deputies at McDonald’s in Oakland, MD. While deputies were speaking with Keller, it was discovered that he was in possession of the stolen credit cards. Keller fled on foot; however, he was apprehended a short distance away, the report stated.
Keller was arrested and charged with the following, according to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Department:
Credit Card Theft
Motor Vehicle Theft
Rogue and Vagabond
Theft Scheme
Keller was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center in Oakland, MD where he is being held without bond.
Investigators with the Garrett County Sheriff’s Department believe Keller may have been involved with additional incidents involving vehicles and businesses in the Oakland area, as earlier in the day, he was found inside a vehicle by the Oakland Police Department.
