Approximately 40 homeowners gathered for the third annual North Beach Taxpayers Association wine and cheese event held on Aug. 1 at the Surf City Firehouse.
The free event aimed at fostering community connections and boosting membership featured an international selection of cheeses catered by the Cheese Shoppe of Surf City, paired with wines including Tuscan white and Australian shiraz. Guests were provided with a program as they entered and traveled from table to table sampling the delicacies.
Marge Girardo, trustee and chair of special events, and association President Gillian Rozicer coordinated the gathering with Jeannette Michelson of Barnegat Light, providing music that included Jimmy Buffett and Modern Jazz Quartet.
Last year, the association launched an experimental native wildflower garden on the median strip on Long Beach Boulevard. Ropzicer said it has been so successful that four more gardens will be added to the area this month.
Rozicer said she had contacted the Ocean County Road Department over snow removal concerns.
“They do a fine job clearing the Boulevard, but they don’t always take care of the easements,” she said.
Homeowners in the North Beach section of Long Beach Township, the 2-mile stretch between Surf City and Harvey Cedars, are invited to join the taxpayers association online at nbtpa.org.
