The Padres are raising season-ticket prices for a sixth straight season, with a weighted average increase of 3% for the 2027 season, according to a team spokesperson.
Padres chief executive officer Erik Greupner announced the hike on Wednesday in an email to season-ticket holders.,
The weighted average increase for next season — based on membership tenure, seating locations and various plans — is less than half of last year’s 7% increase.
The Padres did not raise season-ticket prices from 2017 through 2021. Since then, prices rose by a weighted average increase of 20% in 2022, 18% in 2023, 9% in 2024, 3% in 2025 and 7% for the 2026 season.
The rising trends coincide with arguably the most sustained run of contention in franchise history, as well as an unprecedented demand for tickets.
The Padres rank only behind the Dodgers in average attendance this year, have finished no lower than fifth since fans were let back into ballparks following the pandemic in 2021 and the team will cap season ticket sales for a fifth straight year next season.
A game out of the NL’s final wild-card spot to begin Wednesday, the Padres are also pushing for their fifth postseason berth in the last seven years and a third straight postseason berth for the first time in franchise history.
The Padres have not advanced past the National League Championship Series during this window and have shed payroll from a franchise-record $256 million in 2023 — third in the majors, according to spotrac.com — to $173 million in 2024 (14th), the first operational year after the death of Padres Chairman Peter Seidler.
Payroll rose to eighth in 2025 ($223 million) and is currently ranked ninth ($219 million) in a year in which the team is selling for an MLB-record $3.9 billion.
Major League Baseball’s owners are expected to vote to approve the transfer of ownership to the group led by José E. Feliciano and wife Kwanza Jones next week.
“We are excited for our new owners, José E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones,” Greupner said in his letter, “who are committed to long-term stewardship of the Padres, fielding a winning team that can compete for championships, delivering an outstanding fan experience and making a positive impact in our community.”
