Just months after an everything-with-matcha and dessert shop called BonBon Matcha opened in Cupertino, a second location is in the works in downtown Palo Alto.
The shop serves vibrant green desserts like matcha Basque cheesecake, house-made gelato, affogatos, cakes, creme rice, tiramisu and an array of matcha lattes paired with yuzu, strawberry and mango flavors.
On weekends, the shop also serves matcha and plain creme brulee crepe cones, made to order and finished with a caramelized creme brulee top. Fillings include vanilla custard, Hokkaido milk vanilla ice cream, strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, Nutella and crumbled Oreos.
“Our goal is to make high-quality matcha more approachable and fun,” owner Emily Niu says. “We source ceremonial-grade matcha directly from the farm and make everything fresh in-house, while creating desserts and drinks that are both beautiful and approachable for everyday enjoyment.”
She expects to open the Palo Alto location of BonBon Matcha at 439 Waverley St. in late September or early October, she said in an email.
Details: Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily at 19900 Vallco Parkway, Unit 170, Cupertino; instagram.com/bonbon_matcha/?hl=en.
