Oakland County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured at the North Hill Farms apartment complex in Pontiac on Tuesday night.
Deputies and STAR EMS responded to the 30 block of Candlelite Lane shortly before 10 p.m. on reports of multiple gunshots fired, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found a 39-year-old Pontiac man outside an apartment who had a gunshot wound to his hand, and inside the residence found Jethro Jackson, Jr., 53, with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Lifesaving measures were administered at the scene, and then Jackson was transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said. An autopsy was scheduled.

The storm door of the apartment where Jackson was found was shattered and multiple bullet holes were seen around the front entrance, the sheriff’s office said.
The man shot in the hand was treated at McLaren Oakland Hospital and released, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies recovered multiple spent shell casings outside the residence, the sheriff’s office said.
