BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Valley Plaza Mall has introduced a new Preferred Parking program designed to give shoppers the option of having a guaranteed, upfront parking space in a section of the parking lot for a fee, while continuing to offer free parking.
A spokesperson with GGP said the new program is intended to address one of the most common challenges guests face: finding a convenient parking space.
Valley Plaza Mall features more than 5,632 parking spaces, with only 240 spaces designated as Preferred Parking. The remaining parking spaces continue to be available free of charge.
The cost for Preferred Parking is $2.45 for the first hour, followed by $2 per additional hour, with a maximum daily charge of $10.
The GGP spokesperson said 10% of all proceeds from Preferred Parking will be donated to the Kern County Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization selected by the Valley Plaza Mall management team.
