The Rotary Club of Del Mar is inviting the community to experience an unforgettable evening of island hospitality while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Making Waves That Impact, a Hawaiian Luau charity fundraiser, will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  at the picturesque Powerhouse Park in Del Mar.

Overlooking the Pacific Ocean at sunset, the event will transform the beachfront venue into a tropical paradise featuring authentic Hawaiian cuisine, live Polynesian entertainment, and inspiring opportunities to give back, a news release stated.

The luau will be catered by Islanders Luau, a Southern California favorite that has been serving authentic Hawaiian food and entertainment since 1970. Guests will enjoy freshly prepared island specialties, including Barbecue Teriyaki Chicken and Hawaiian Fried Rice, while traditional hula and Polynesian dancers bring the culture and spirit of the islands to life along the Del Mar shoreline.

Beyond the festive atmosphere, the evening has an ambitious mission: raising $100,000 to support organizations that are changing lives throughout the region and beyond. Proceeds will benefit Workshops for Warriors, which equips military veterans with advanced manufacturing skills and career opportunities, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego, providing young people with a safe, supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive. Additional funding will support Feeding San Diego, the Guatemala Literacy Project, and other local community initiatives championed by Rotary, the news release stated.

Guests will have numerous opportunities to contribute throughout the evening, including a silent auction, live auction, paddle raise, and raffle featuring exciting prizes.

“This isn’t just a fundraiser—it’s an opportunity for our community to come together to support those who have sacrificed for our country and invest in the next generation,” said Michael Clark, fundraising chair for the event, in the news release. “One evening, one spectacular setting, and countless lives changed. That’s what Making Waves That Impact is all about.”

Tickets are $150 per person through Aug. 15, after which the price increases to $175. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses and individuals who wish to make an even greater impact. Those unable to attend are encouraged to support the event through an online donation.
