BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Heatwave #3 has been the hottest of 2026. Bakersfield peaked this last Tuesday at 109, which was a record high. It tied the record set back in 1901. Plus, we have now had four days at or above 105 degrees.
Heat stress levels will be at their highest this summer for the weekend. Moisture out of Arizona will keep dew point levels high.
Plus, temperatures will range from 105-110 for the South Valley, mid to upper 90s in the Kern County mountains, Kern River valley reaches the century marker, and the Kern County desert tops out around 108-116.
Stay in the shade, keep hydrated, and please watch your children around water. The extreme heat will linger into Monday.
