Domestic violence suspect in custody after hours-long standoff with Sacramento police
Officers detained a domestic violence suspect after trying to draw him out of a Sacramento home for hours, according to police
The Sacramento Police Department said it responded to reports of a domestic violence incident in the 1000 block of 43rd Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The male suspect, 43-year-old Dennis Stenholm, was already wanted on a felony warrant, police said.
Police said Stenholm, who had out of county warrants for assault with a deadly weapon and felony hit and run, refused to exit the residence.
SWAT personnel responded to the scene, police said. They smashed through the window of the home in an attempt to gain access.
Around 6:30 p.m. Stenholm was detained. He was alone in the house, officials said. Police said no injuries have been reported in relation to the incident.
Stenholm was charged with resisting arrest and possessing a firearm while having a restraining order.
