SAN FRANCISCO — An Earth, Wind and Fire concert was called off Thursday night in San Francisco after a member of the band suffered an unspecified medical emergency.
The band was slated to perform with Lionel Richie around 7:30 p.m. at the Chase Center.
“Earth, Wind and Fire is unable to perform as scheduled tonight due to a medical emergency involving a member of their band,” the center said in a statement 10 minutes ahead of the start time.
Update: Yahoo News and TMZ on Friday identified the injured musician as Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris.
The concert will be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced soon, the center said. Tickets to Thursday’s show will be honored for the new date. Refunds will also be available at the point of purchase.
“We sincerely apologize for the unexpected change and appreciate everyone’s understanding,” the center said.
