July 27 — A caller reported hearing a wounded animal kicking a fence, but was worried that it could also be a person.
An officer responded, and heard the noise coming from the back corner of the property. He went over to the neighbor’s place to investigate further, when another neighbor came out and explained it was their son making the noise. The juvenile was reportedly upset about having his phone taken away. The officer let the caller know what the noise was, and left.
July 29 — Theft: At 3 a.m., someone stole a whole tank of gas out of one of the Ford Electric vans that was parked along the fence line. This happens about once a year. The camera caught someone who came down the fence line and siphoned the gas, then walked off. The caller is requesting extra patrols, as he believes the suspect must not be from too far away, since they were on foot.
July 30 — Malicious mischief: An hour earlier, the caller said that while she was not at the property, a subject broke a window of a guest’s room at Heidi’s Inn in Ilwaco. Two officers responded. The caller will check the camera footage for evidence.
One of the officers took a picture of the broken window. He spoke with the guest who was staying in the room, and they were not injured or bothered. The caller estimated the cost of the window to be $200 to $300. The officer told the caller to have the owner of the inn to contact the police department if she wanted to press charges.
July 31 — Theft: A caller reported that a homeless-looking female subject was loading wood into the back of her truck. An officer arrived and spoke to the subject. She said she would put the wood back, and come back when people were working to ask if she can have the scrap wood.
