Did you experience an outage with Verizon? You aren’t the only one.
Fiber cuts related to vandalism disrupted service for Verizon users whose phones were stuck on SOS mode on Sunday, the company told its customers in a notice. Further details on the vandalism that led to the disruption were not disclosed.
As a result, Verizon customers in Southern California have been without service Sunday morning and afternoon.
Engineers are working to remedy the issue. It’s unclear when all affected customers will have their service restored.
“Acts of network theft and vandalism represent a direct threat to the safety and security of our communities,” the company said in its notice to customers. “Thank you for your patience as our teams work to protect and reinforce the network in your area.”
NBC Los Angeles has reached out to Verizon for comment.
