BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was killed Monday morning after being struck by multiple vehicles on 24th Street, several of which drove away from the scene.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on August 10th, 2026, at around 5:35 a.m., officers were called to the 24th Street bridge over the Kern River regarding a report of a pedestrian down in the roadway.

When officers arrived, they found a man in the westbound lanes of 24th Street. The pedestrian had been struck by multiple vehicles, several of which left the scene without stopping, according to police.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The westbound lanes of 24th Street will remain closed while officers conduct the investigation and process the scene. The roadway was closed until 9 a.m.
