Sacramento unveils signs marking “Little Italy” neighborhood
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Sacramento city leaders and the Italian Cultural Society revealed new street sign toppers in East Sacramento, celebrating the area’s Italian American heritage.
Bill Cerruti, the director of the Italian Cultural Society of Sacramento, said the signs honor the neighborhood’s Italian American heritage, which dates back to the Gold Rush.
“For us right now, to see all the new signs going up to mark the boundaries, mark the streets, it’s a source of pride,” Cerruti said. “It supports our community. Like any group, we all want to be recognized, acknowledged. So this helps do that.”
