A Bay Area family is desperately searching for answers more than three weeks after 36-year-old Chantel Brooks disappeared shortly after leaving work.
With Brooks’ birthday just days away, her family is canvassing several cities and distributing flyers across Fairfield and the broader Bay Area, hoping someone knows where she is.
Fairfield police say the search remains active for Brooks, who was last seen on July 17 at a CVS parking lot off Travis Boulevard just before 2 a.m. She was heading home from her hotel job in San Francisco. Police shared surveillance images showing Brooks leaving work shortly before 12:30 a.m. that morning.
A close friend of Brooks in Fairfield alerted the family when she did not hear from her for days. Her brothers, Calvin and Kevin Robinson, then realized they could no longer track her location through her mobile device.
“Her location wasn’t pinging, it just wasn’t popping up,” Kevin Robinson said.
A missing person flyer distributed by the family states that the license plate on Brooks’ black Infiniti was last detected in Oakland. However, Fairfield police say they cannot confirm her car was last seen there.
As the weeks pass, the disappearance is weighing heavily on her family, and the search is taking on even more urgency.
“I’m trying to stay strong but the more the time goes by the more nervous you get,” Kevin Robinson said. He described his sister as “a happy girl” and the “life of the party.”
Calvin Robinson shared similar sentiments about his sister’s character.
“She’s the type of person to put other people first…really good hearted,” he said.
The prolonged search has taken an emotional toll on the brothers.
“Going on a few weeks right now, it’s hurting me right now…praying we find…Chantel safe,” Calvin Robinson added. “I’m really hoping she’s safe…and OK right now.”
