Coroner lists man found in Bakersfield canal near South P Street as John Doe

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has listed the body found in a canal near South P Street as a John Doe.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Wednesday, August 5, at around 2:26 p.m., the department received a call for service, reported in the area of South P Street and Snyder Lane.

Police said a man was found face-down in the canal. The man was pulled from the canal.

The coroner’s report said he was listed as a John Doe, with his age as “unknown.”

The report said an autopsy was conducted and the cause and manner of death are pending.

“His identity will be released when he is positively identified and next of kin notified,” said in the coroner’s report.
