Rosedale North Elementary marks 50th year as principal welcomes students back

Students returned to classrooms for the first day of school at Rosedale North Elementary School as the campus marks its 50th year.

Principal Danyelle Cushman welcomed students back and called the first day a special moment for the school community.

“So you can see we’re welcoming back just really the heartbeat of our school, our kiddos,” Cushman said. “They’re excited. We’re excited. This is why we’re here. So, it’s an amazing day.”

Cushman is in her 10th year at Rosedale North and her second year as principal. Asked what she learned from her first year leading the school, Cushman said keeping students at the center is key.

“I would say the biggest thing is that the students should be at the heart of everything that you do,” she said. “And as long as you do that, everything else works out. And every day is different.”

Cushman said the anniversary makes this school year especially meaningful.

“We’re super excited to just celebrate the legacy of the 50 years and what our next 50 will bring,” she said.
