Menifee police are searching for the driver of a white vehicle allegedly involved in a crash that killed a teenager riding an electric motocross-style motorcycle, authorities said Thursday.
Officers responded Wednesday to Briggs Road and Gabriel Road at approximately 8:19 p.m. after receiving a report of an unconscious pedestrian on the roadway with a severe head injury, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Upon arrival, they found a teenager on the roadway with injuries. Paramedics and CAL Fire personnel arrived at the scene and determined the victim had died from his injuries.
Authorities identified the victim as a 15-year-old Menifee resident. They also stated that the teenager was riding an electric off-road motocross-style motorcycle, known as an eMoto.
Witnesses told investigators they saw a white vehicle traveling south on Briggs Road toward Garbani Road while dragging what appeared to be a bicycle under its front end.
The vehicle continued moving after the bicycle came loose and did not stop or report the collision, according to police.
The driver fled the scene in a white SUV, possibly a minivan, which likely has damage to the front bumper and passenger-side headlight, police said.
Authorities said the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
