BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Members of the community can learn life-saving skills and prepare for emergency situations at a low cost in the coming months, according to the city of Bakersfield.

The training costs $5, according to city officials. It includes pediatric first aid, CPR/AED and water safety courses.

Courses are scheduled for Sept. 19, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7 at the Silver Creek Community Center at 7011 Harris Rd.

Those who are interested have to register in person at the McMurtrey Aquatic Center at 1325 Q St., officials said. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Sept. 1.

Participants must be 12 years and older. They will receive an American Red Cross Certification upon passing the class.

The training is funded by a grant from the American Red Cross, according to the city.
