Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying more than two dozen people in connection with last weekend’s break-ins at an East Los Angeles AutoZone that resulted in significant loss and damage to the business.
At around 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 9, forced entry was made into the store in the 1130 block of South Atlantic Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Another burglary at the same store occurred during a street takeover just before 2:30 a.m. the day before, and investigators say the same suspects, as well as an additional 11 people, may have been involved.
Officials described these incidents as “mob-like” burglaries of the store.
It’s unclear what was taken and how much the items were worth, but video from inside the store showed smashed windows and computers, and aisles filled with broken glass and products pulled off the shelves.
The LASD released images of the 27 suspects, which came from footage from the business, in two social media posts.
NBC Los Angeles reported that an AutoZone store in South Los Angeles was also ransacked last weekend. It’s unknown if that incident has any connection to the ones in East LA.
Anyone with information about the case can contact Detective Luu or the on-duty watch commander at 323-264-4151, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
