BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department was dispatched to an apartment off Mohawk Street on Saturday, responding to a domestic violence incident.
When law enforcement arrived at the apartment on the 900 block of Mohawk Street on Aug. 15 around 8:32 a.m., they determined that the suspect, 34-year-old Juan Segura, was inside the apartment with three minors and armed with knives, BPD said.
Police said that Segura refused to exit the building.
Bakersfield police officers assigned to the department’s Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT officials responded to the apartment to assist officers in ensuring the three minors in the apartment were safe while Segura was taken into custody.
About two hours after law enforcement arrived on the scene, Segura exited the apartment and was arrested without incident, BPD said.
Segura was arrested for charges related to domestic violence and child abuse and endangerment.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111.
