Advocacy group GrowSF is about to spend more backing its endorsed candidates for the Board of Education than any outside group before.

The group has committed to spending a chalkboard-screeching six figures to back (opens in new tab)incumbent Phil Kim, Autumn Brown Garibay, and Tim Tung. (All are moderate Democrats, of course — GrowSF’s usual persuasion.)
The group declined to share an exact figure, citing a desire not to fully tip off political opponents. But the previous levels of spending they said they’d exceed would buy a lot of school raffle tickets already: In June, candidate Brandee Marckmann spent $136,000 of her own money, according to the San Francisco Ethics Commission. GrowSF spent $220,000 on Kim in June.
