CNN reported that committee staff began looking into the matter after following up on a New York Post story alleging Gomez was seen kissing a congressional aide who worked for another member of Congress outside a party in 2023. A spokesperson for Gomez denied that account when the Post initially reported it.
Investigators subsequently learned of additional sexual misconduct allegations involving Gomez, CNN reported. The Ethics Committee’s Monday statement did not provide further details about the allegations under review.
