ROSEBURG, Ore. — A traffic stop in southeast Roseburg early Saturday led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man after police said a vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen out of California.
The Roseburg Police Department said officers were patrolling near SE Sheridan Street and SE Mosher Avenue when they received an automated license plate reader (ALPR) hit on a stolen vehicle at 6:11 a.m. on August 16.
Police said they confirmed through LEDS that the vehicle, a white 2004 Nissan Armada, was stolen out of Bakersfield, Calif.
Officers conducted a “high-risk stop” and detained Bradley Warren Combs, 45, of Roseburg, without incident, police said.
Combs claimed to own the vehicle, according to police. However, police said the 66-year-old California man who reported the vehicle stolen told officers he had given the vehicle to Combs to repair more than a month ago and it had not been returned.
Combs was charged with unlawful use of a vehicle and was lodged at Corrections, police said.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Bill’s Towing.
