CASA of Orange County went back to the 1960s for its annual Celebration Gala, raising more than $1.3 million for local foster youth.

Guests stepped back in time when they arrived at Pendry Newport Beach for the 1960s-themed CASA Orange County Celebration Gala. Inspired by The Beatles’ hit song of a similar name, this year’s fete was dubbed “A Little Help From Our Friends.” The crowd dressed in groovy outfits and posed for pictures with an Austin Powers look-alike.

Rousing silent and live auctions kept the energy high and helped raise more than $1.3 million, while CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) leaders and volunteer mentors shared stories of the nonprofit’s impact on the lives of foster care kids. “CASA OC fills critical gaps in a system that was never designed to meet every emotional, developmental, and relational need for children in foster care,” says CASA CEO Regan Dean Phillips. “Systems provide services; people and relationships change lives. A volunteer who listens, follows through, and reminds a child that they matter can completely change the trajectory of a young person’s future.”
