With summer bliss slowly fading and back-to-school nerves emerging, it’s important to cherish the time left before heading to campus. Transitioning into a demanding academic year, the competitive culture at UC Berkeley can take away the moments of gratitude people share. With a few seconds left in the hourglass, it’s best to make the most of the time left. Here are a few things you can do to finish off the summer.
Watching the sunset at a local beach
Taking some downtime during the summer is always crucial, but being at the beach is what makes it better. Grab a blanket and a friend to soak in the cotton-candy sunset views.
Hugging friends and family one more time
The hardest part about leaving home is saying goodbye to that one special person. To your childhood pitbull or the smoothie guy at your local grocery store, make it count one more time by giving them a hug!
Taking a walk around the neighborhood
Over the past few weeks, it’s likely that you’ve established camp somewhere around the world. Take one last neighborhood walk to visualize every detail imaginable to never forget your summer adventures.
Going to your favorite food spot
In my personal opinion, the hardest challenge to face as summer is ending is eating my last gelato cone at the local Bacio di Latte. Knowing that you won’t find your hometown eateries in Berkeley, support your favorite food or dessert spot, and savor every last bite.
